Title
Letter from F. Wilkins to Mr Hope, Chairman of the Eastern Steam Navigation Company
Description
Written from 80 Harley Street, Cavendish Square, London. The letter offers several suggestions relating to the launching of the Eastern Steam Navigation Company's ship which Wilkins believes may save the company money. Wilkins suggests launching the ship as soon as the outer hull of the ship is sufficiently watertight and lists the reasons why he believes this will save the company money and also suggests that the company should fit a small gas meter on board to add to passenger comfort and offers to design such a device should the company wish him to do. A small note underneath the letter explains that Brunel's reply to this letter, dated 10 February 1855, can be found on page 18 of the next volume in the series.
