Title'Miscellaneous Volumes' of the Pinney family
DescriptionThis series of 'Miscellaneous Volumes' are composed of a variety of different forms of family records. The origins of this format-based grouping are unknown, however this series has thus far largely been retained and has not yet been recatalogued, excepting the movement of some volumes relevant to the Pinneys' activites in the Caribbean into the Caribbean papers (DM58/2). Some items previously described as 'Letter Books' have also been recatalogued into this series (DM58/Miscellaneous Volumes/50-53) owing to a reassessment of their function. As such, the volumes in this series relate primarily to the Pinneys' activities in Britain.

The 'Miscellaneous Volumes' include: the notebooks of [Anna] Maria Pinney (DM58/Miscellaneous Volumes/36-47, dated 1812-1861); correspondence with William Wordsworth; inventories and lists of deeds held by the Pinneys; diaries; a report on the findings of a Select Committee of the House of Commons; genealogical notes; volumes containing copies or bound versions of legal and other manuscripts.
