Description
Papers belonging to Pat VT West (1938-2008) - Also known as Pat West, Pat van Twest, PVT West.
These personal papers relate to Pat VT West’s work in activism, performance , writing and education. Her early work was based in performance and poetry, being part of a group called Hydrogen Jukeboxin during the late 1960s and early 1970s. This would lead to her meeting Jackie Thrupp with whom she would later perform with together in ‘Sistershow’. Pat VT West was also involved in Feminist activities in Bristol, attending meetings Ellen Malos' flat in the early 1970s. During this period she would attend Feminist conferences and became involved with the magazine ‘Enough’. She was also a CND campaigner providing evidence at Hinkley Enquiry and was part of the Greenham Common encampment in the early 1980s. Papers held also relate to her writing and poetry. During the early 1990s Pat VT West delivered writing and poetry workshops for initiatives such as the Bristol One Parent Project. She continued to work as a creative writing tutor in community education and ran women's writing classes in Bristol into the 2000s.
