DM162/10/12/folio 204. Letter to B. Hawes relating to Smyrna hospital. Plans prepared for foundations, buildings, basement with air chamber beneath and ventilating apparatus, etc., walls under each of local materials, wood floors from England, economy, practicability, communication with Smyrna, difficulty of one storied buildings on site, modification and adaptation details, designed for different circumstances, costs, recommendation of plans and instructions being sent out, arrangements for work made and Brunton going to Smyrna to plan position, drainage, etc. 20 June 1855.

Sir J Paxton engaging Army Works Corpsmen, new contractor Walker's men sent, advice on management, enquiry as to effect of roofing tin plates, fan ventilators, heating, mortar, availability and cost of boarding for lining, sheltered promenade, no buildings to be sent to Smyrna, all to Renkioi, kitchens, laundries, pumps, reservoirs, pipes, etc., Eassie's son to be Brunton's assistant etc. 29 July 1855.
