| Description | The letter discusses plans and technical drawings, probably for the SS Great Britain. Claxton has described Humphrys' new scheme to Brunel; Brunel does not like it, so he has been to see Field and they have 'skemed (sic) a new plan'. Brunel refers in passing to the dispute over the design of the Clifton Suspension Bridge: 'between the two parties [ ] we settled amicably into the Egyptian'; and mentions the SS British Queen: 'the vessel works like a basket'.
