| Description | Packet of papers and draft papers relating to the construction of the Great Eastern, mainly for the year 1858. The packet includes draft estimates for work to be done and materials needed, drafts of contracts for specific pieces of work and notes and annotations.
The sheets are numbered individually and sequentially and items may cover several numbered sheets. The sheets also indicate that at some point they have been fastened together by the upper left hand corner and show signs of slight rusting around the hole by which they were joined together. Some items have subsequently been copied into Brunel's letter-books of Great Eastern correspondence (DM1306/11/1). |
