Description | A remarkable group of material consisting of the day-to-day paperwork of the project and including quantities of material, tables of weights, reports on progress of works, invoices for ironwork, estimates for engines, completion of works, launching, memoranda, etc. Many are in the hand of William Jacomb, Isambard Kingdom Brunel's personal assistant, sometimes with annotations by Brunel himself. There are also drafts of memoranda in Brunel's hand. Some of the items have subsequently been copied into Brunel's letter-books of correspondence relating to the construction of the Great Eastern (DM1306/11/1). |
