TitleLetter from Charles Kuckuck to Isambard Kingdom Brunel offering an invention for use on the Great Eastern
DescriptionWritten from 58 Pall Mall, London. The letter comments that Kuckuck had been recommended by Mr Klingemann before finding out that it was not proposed to carry out artistic painted decoration on the Great Eastern but Kuckuck requests the honour of being given at least some of the quantity of painting, graining and gilding work that will be undoubtedly be carried out. The letter names two referees who will testify as to the quality of Kuckuck's work. The right hand side of the reverse of the sheet has a pencil annotation, possibly in Brunel's hand, directing the shape of the reply to the letter.
