The letter requests Brunel give Milner an opinion of his model for improvements in ships' sleeping berths and bedding. Milner wishes to know if the person superintending the fitting out of the Great Eastern will give Milner an opportunity to explain his invention. There is a pencil annotation across one corner of the reverse directing the shape of the reply.
