TitleLetter from George Bower to Isambard Kingdom Brunel offering an invention for use on the Great Eastern
DescriptionThe letter thanks Brunel for his reply to Bower's previous letter and promises to continue with his experiments on gas lighting. The letter expresses Bower's certainty that his experiments will allow him to create a satisfactory apparatus for use on board ship. The letter mentions that Bower has already received an order from Mr Clay Williams for a ship. The letter promises to report Bower's future progress. A postscript confirms that Bower is undertaking to make a dry gas holder for the Great Eastern. The letter has been copied out as DM1306/11/1/5/folio 49-50 in Brunel's letter books of Great Eastern correspondence.
