TitleLetter from John L. Lorand to Isambard Kingdom Brunel offering an invention for use on the Great Eastern
DescriptionWritten from 11 William Street (?), Hampstead Road, North West London. The letter asks for Brunel's opinion on a new type of propeller for ships which Lorand believes will simplify the ship's engine, work more efficiently and usefully than either paddle or screw and does not need to be disconnected when the ship runs solely under sail. The propeller will also be completely immersed. Lorand offers to discuss terms with Brunel if he wishes to adopt the propeller.
