Description | Written from 25 Wickham Terrace, Lewisham Road, Deptford, S. E London. The letter reminds Brunel that Brown wrote to him back in March requesting permission to meet with Brunel to discuss some newly invented mast-head, paddle box and signal lamps which he hopes that Brunel might purchase for the Great Eastern. Following Brunel's reply to that previous letter, he is now contacting Brunel again to describe the lamps, their suitability and the range of possible sizes that can be made and offers to have a mould made for Brunel of whatever size he needs. The letter sends Brunel a report from the Elder Brethren of Trinity House about the lamps and promises Brunel the most careful personal attention to any order he might make. The letter may have been copied out in Brunel's letter books of Great Eastern Correspondence as DM1306/11/1/4/folio 385-386. |
