Description
Letters relating to the hydraulic presses used in the launching of the Great Eastern.
Letters, including one from Thomas Brassey, concerning the ownership of a press borrowed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel from Henderson of Fox, Henderson to launch the ship, 26 February-11 March 1858.
Letters concerning the broken ram on a press borrowed from Messrs. Tindall. The Eastern Steam Navigation Company admitted liability but the matter dragged on and the final letter advises Jacomb that Tindall's have brought an action to recover the debt, 26 March 1858-16 July 1859.
