The letter promises that, if given the order for the crank shaft, the entire strength of the Thames Iron Works would be put into forging the shaft as quickly as possible. The letter also gives the estimated time until the shaft could be completed. The letter may have been copied out into Brunel's letter books of Great Eastern correspondence as DM1306/11/1/5/folio 55-56. |
