Description | Written from Middleton Park, Bicester. Letter to Isambard Kingdom Brunel asking to see the launch of the SS Great Eastern.
'My dear Sir
I see by the Papers that Saturday is fixed for the floating of your Vessel. Lady Villiers has a great Fancy to see it, I need not say that I [ ]. Could you manage it for us, or should I make some such Arrangement as was made at first about a Steam Tug on the River. Will you send me a Line to Blenheim? Woodstock. I am going there tomorrow.
Yours [very truly]
Villiers'
Annotated, probably by Brunel, with a brief reply across the upper left corner. |
