TitleLetter from H. England to Isambard Kingdom Brunel
DescriptionWritten from Park Hall, Mans Road, Peckham. Letter, probably to Isambard Kingdom Brunel, asking to visit the Leviathan (SS Great Eastern) with his family. England has taken the liberty of writing to Brunel because they worked together 'to secure the election of our most valuable friend Benjamin Hawes for the borough of Lambeth'.

Annotated, probably by Brunel, with a brief reply stating that no-one is permitted on board at present, and to make sure of this, no means of getting on board have been provided.

The letter is dated 5 January 1858, but has been labelled in another hand with the date 5 February 1858 on the reverse, along with the writer's name.
