| Title | Letter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to R. I. R. Campbell |
| Description | The letter reports on a meeting that Brunel had with Mr Finch, the mast maker, where Brunel explained that he could not come between Finch and John Scott Russell but that he suggested Finch ask Russell to undertake the lifting and installation of the pieces of the masts. Brunel explains that he is alerting Campbell to the issue since Brunel is concerned that Russell is so keen to stick to the exact terms of his contract that he may push for the adoption of wooden masts not the iron masts that Brunel wants and suggests that Campbell may be able to draw Russell's attention to the problem and perhaps give him additional time to ensure the iron masts are fitted. |
