| Title | Letter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to J. H. Yates, secretary of the Great Ship Company |
| Description | The letter expresses Brunel's understanding that John Scott Russell has written to the Directors of the Great Ship Company about the installation of an extra bulkhead suggesting that installing the bulkhead could compromise Russell's ability to get the rest of the work done on time. Brunel acknowledges Russell's contractual right to make this stipulation but doesn't understand how it is possible and recommends the Directors not to authorise an unspecified extension to the contract but suggests that a week-long extension to Russell's contract might be suitable. If Russell needs more than a week's extension, Brunel suggests getting Watt & Co be asked to install the extra bulkhead. |
