TitleLetter from William Jacomb to the Directors of the Great Ship Company
DescriptionWritten from 79 Lombard Street, London. The letter explains the result of a meeting that Jacomb and Mr Lewis had with Mr Lucas explaining why the tender that Lucas and Money Wigram & Co sent to the Eastern Steam Navigation Company for fitting out the Great Eastern was different to the one that they submitted to the Great Ship Company some months later. The letter also gives the final, updated tender for the prices that would be charged for fitting out the boats, the furniture and stores and the ship's chandlery and for fitting the ship out for sea and the amount of profit that would be made. The letter also comments on the reduction that would be needed to account for the construction of the poop deck and associated accommodation.
