| Title | Letter from Henry Wollaston Blake to Isambard Kingdom Brunel |
| Description | Written from 18 London Street, City of London. The letter acknowledges that the steam heater has overrun its scheduled completion date but blames this on the interruptions caused by several days of fetes and dinners the previous week. The letter asserts that the indicators were perfectly good and could not have been better than those used on the first day of the engine testing and disputes Brunel's assertion that the indicator was wrong. The letter also exclaims at Brunel's insistence at some changes to be made to the cylinders and explains Blake's reasons for his dispute but promises to see about the fly-wheels for the auxiliary engines that Brunel wants. The letter also promises to install the stuffing box that Brunel wants as long as Blake is paid for it in cash. |
