| Title | Letter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to R. J. R. Campbell |
| Description | The letter reminds Campbell that the matters recently arbitrated upon are all essential to the ship being ready to go to sea and cannot be compromised upon but that there is sufficient time left to complete everything that needs to be done. The letter also discusses the need to ensure that the auxiliary engines are working properly and Brunel's need to see the finished engines at work, which is also contained in the terms of the contract and supported by the arbitration process. Brunel suggests that Campbell authorise an additional sum to be paid to John Scott Russell if it will encourage him to complete the work expeditiously. |
