| Title | Letter from John Yates, secretary of the Eastern Steam Navigation Company, to Isambard Kingdom Brunel |
| Description | Written from 13 Gresham Street, London. The letter acknowledges receipt of Brunel's letter and promises that Yates will do all he can to gather the financial information that the Directors of the Eastern Steam Navigation Company require for their meeting. The letter also updates Brunel on the readiness to receive the delivery of the railway bars and the flat bars which have been deposited at the shipyard and also updates Brunel on the progress with the intermediate shaft and the rudder. Yates also wishes that he could have visited Saltash to see Brunel's proceedings but that he is far too busy to leave London. |
