| Title | Letter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to W. L. E. McLean |
| Description | Written from 18 Duke Street, Westminster, London. The letter remarks on a possible flaw in McLean's plans for the crank shaft which has been pointed out to Brunel by Mr Leslie and suggests an alternative plan and also expresses Brunel's eagerness to hear that the forging has begun. Brunel also expresses his concern that the forging of the first double crank is not completed since Brunel had expected it to have been completed and dispatched by now. The letter also explains how inconvenient Brunel is finding it that the rudder has not been completed but that he is also concerned that the rudder should be sound. There is a sketch on Folio 66 illustrating some of Brunel's points. |
