| Title | Letter from J. Bennett, Isambard Kingdom Brunel's secretary, to George Bower |
| Description | Written from 18 Duke Street, Westminster, London. The letter passes on Brunel's acknowledgement of Bower's previous letter (Folios 45-46) and explains that there is no foundation to the rumour that someone else has been selected to light the Great Eastern with gas. The letter explains that Brunel feels that it is Bower's apparatus for making gas rather than the gas holder apparatus that needs redesigning since there are several very functional designs for gas holders around. |
