| Title | Letter from George W. Hart to Isambard Kingdom Brunel |
| Description | Written from 38 Wish Street, Southsea. The letter explains that seven years previously Hart invented a design for a paddle wheel for a sea-going steamer but destroyed his model when informed that he would have to finance any practical trials of his design. Hart considers that his design could be perfect for the Great Eastern which would allow him to perform a practical trial and which would not cost the Eastern Steam Navigation Company much more than 50 pounds. Hart also explains the advantages of his design. |
