| Description | Written from Liverpool. The letter reports that Henry Wood & Co's Chester works, which had been closed following a major accident, are now partially re-opened and are working on the anchors of the Great Eastern and hopes that Brunel can give them as much of an extension as possible with regards to the delivery date, especially since they have the opportunity of exhibiting some of the anchors they have made at the Liverpool docks. The letter also asks when Brunel's assistant Mr Leslie will visit the Chester factory to inspect the anchors and also asks Brunel if he has made any arrangements for proving the anchors and expresses their interest in manufacturing some of the chain cable for the Great Eastern. |
