| Description | Written from 18 Duke Street, Westminster, London. The letter thanks Engledue for his response to Brunel's letter and apologises that Bruenl was too tired to meet with him on the previous day and regrets not having asked Engledue to facilitate Brunel interviewing both of Engledue's candidates. Brunel asks Engledue to telegraph one or both his candidates to see if they will visit Brunel, on the understanding that the visit may not result in a position. Brunel expresses his agreement with Engledue's point about including Clyde men in the competition and expresses his wish that he might have been able to emply some of them. A private postscript asks if Captain Engledue either knows or knows of Captain Ford who used to work for the General Screw Company and if he has heard good reports of Ford and his work and promises to take up Engledue's suggestion of an interim run. |
