TitleLetter from James H. Parsons to J. Yates, secretary of the Eastern Steam Navigation Company
DescriptionWritten from 69 Acton Street, Grays Inn Road, London. The letter responds to Yates' advertisement in The Builder by suggesting Parson's way of solving the problems with the launching of the Eastern Steam Navigation company's ship. Parson's solution is to set a row of mortars firing simultaneously at the cradles on which the ship is resting, thus giving a concussive force equal to the hydraulic force that the company are trying to achieve and for the very nominal cost of the gunpowder.
