| Title | Letter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to the Secretary of the Admiralty |
| Description | Written from 18 Duke Street, Westminster, London. The letter explains that Brunel must apply to the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty for additional assistance in launching his ship and explains that he has made changes to the launching procedure to reduce the risk to the workmen which means that he needs a large additional quantity of chain cable and promises that the Eastern Steam Navigation Company would guarantee to return the chain cable that they borrow in good condition. Brunel requests permission to check with various Admiralty dockyards for the quantity of chain that they have in stock. |
