| Title | Letter from John Trotman to Isambard Kingdom Brunel |
| Description | Written from 42 Cornhill, London. The letter explains that Trotman has inspected the anchor along with the foreman from Woods & Co and gives his opinions of the workmanship of the anchor, which was so poor that it reduced by two thirds the amount of strain that Trotman estimates the anchor could otherwise have taken. The letter also confirms that Brunel's instructions to get the smaller anchors ready for testing have been followed and hopes that Brunel will send someone to witness the tests on his behalf. |
