| Title | Letter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to W. Langdon of Messers Watt & Co |
| Description | Written from 18 Duke Street, Westminster, London. The letter explains that Brunel's reasoning for wanting to move the donkey engines in the screw engine room is so that he can install a pump to pump the bilge water from the bottom of the boiler compartments which Watt & Co have not provided for. Brunel also reminds Langdon that he had sent a copy of the designs for the paddle wheel engines which he suggested Watt & Co copy. Brunel expresses disbelief that the pipes for the engine are all completed but agrees to leave the engines as they were previously positioned. Brunel also reminds Langdon of the importance of clothing the steam pipes but reminds Langdon that the clothing of the steam boilers should not be done until the boilers have steam in. |
