TitleLetter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to Captain Harrison
DescriptionWritten from 18 Duke Street, Westminster, London. The letter suggests that Captain Harrison has underestimated the forces that might be required to move the ship if she sticks on the launching rails or which might be needed to move the ship off the cradle and suggests that Brunel thinks as much as 500 tons of force might be needed and reminds Harrison of the need to remember the real amount of strain that may occur if this force is used and which they must provide for in the chains and moorings. Brunel discusses the provisions that must be made for a safe launching.
