TitleLetter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to J. Penn
DescriptionWritten from 18 Duke Street, Westminster, London. The letter asks if Penn, at his Deptford Wharf, has any mechanical means of giving a horizontal pull which could be lent to Brunel to help with the launch of the Eastern Steam Navigation Company's big ship. The letter also wishes that Brunel had known of Penn's opinion of the Great Britain's engineer since the ship, and the engineer, are due to sail that week and there is no way of Brunel seeing him. Brunel mourns his inability to find a good candidate for the post.
