| Title | Letter from Bradford Leslie to Isambard Kingdom Brunel |
| Description | Written from Glasgow. The letter gives Brunel an update on the current size of the defective crank shaft which has been cut down to remove the defective part, leaving the sound part to become the basis of the new forging and describes how the Lancefield Forge are going about the forging but explains that Leslie is not able to give Brunel an anticipated completion date since the Lancefield Forge have not given him one. The letter explains that there is no explanation for the defect in the previous crank shaft. Leslie also updates Brunel on the progress that the Lancefield Forge have made with the rudder and the results of various enquiries as to who might be able to transport the rudder. There is a sketch on Folio 112 demonstrating the shape of the cut down crank shaft. |
