TitleLetter from William Jacomb to Isambard Kingdom Brunel
DescriptionWritten from Millwall, London. The letter explains that Jacomb has handed John Yates his draft estimate of the costs associated with the construction of the launching ways but he has not been able to include the cost of the metal rails since he does not know what financial arrangements Brunel made for these. Jacomb also mentions that they have not yet received the metal rails. The letter also describes how the tides have affected the launching ways, causing the timbers to rise and loosening three of the piles by up to 12 inches. Jacomb explains the solution that he and Mr Tredwell (in charge of manufacturing the launching ways) have come up with until they hear further from Brunel. Below the signature is a copy of Jacomb's estimate of the payment to be made to Mr Tredwell for the construction of the launching ways.
