Title
Letter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to John Scott Russell
Description
Written from 18 Duke Street, Westminster, London. The letter gives Brunel's opinions of the work at Russell's shipyard, based on his recent visit there. The remarks include Brunel's thoughts about the experiments to heat steam, his certainty of their eventual success and his wish for Russell to ensure that the experiments proceed quickly since elements of the design process rest on the results of these experiments. Brunel also discusses the stern frame, the after rudder and the lack of apparent progress with the painting and riveting and requests Russell set more men on to these tasks.
