TitleLetter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to the Directors of the Eastern Steam Navigation Company
DescriptionWritten from 18 Duke Street, Westminster, London. The letter reports on the progress on the ship, comments on the amount of material delivered and that ordered and details the progress on the different parts of the ship, including the upper deck, the plating of the ship's side and the lower deck. The letter also comments on the decisions that Brunel has made over finalising the design for the stern as well as the decisions that he is making relating to the paddle wheels and the masts and his intention to inspect several large new ships, including the Republic, to examine any improvements in mast technology.
