TitleLetter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to William Jacomb and Memorandum as to Model of Rigging
DescriptionWritten from 18 Duke Street, Westminster, London. The letter sends Jacomb the final drawings for the mast and rigging and a memorandum relating to the rigging. Below the signature is a copy of a memorandum dated 20 November titled Memorandum as to Model of Rigging. The memorandum expresses the assumption that all the standing rigging of the ship is assumed to be wire rope and explains how this assumption will affect the thickness of the threads used in the model version of the ship and explains the assumed size of the shrouds. Brunel explains how he wants the model to be made and the level of exactitude that he needs for the different parts of the model including the shrouds, shroud stays, masts, rigging, yards and yard trusses.
