TitleLetter from William Jacomb to Isambard Kingdom Brunel
DescriptionWritten from the Eastern Steam Co, London. The letter confirms that Jacomb has left at Brunel's house the calculations he has made relating to the centres of gravity of the ship and a diagram showing the same but that he has not yet received details of the weights of the screw engine, masts and rigging and has not been able to calculate their centre of gravity. Jacomb also lists the other calculations that he has made and comments that his estimate of the weight of the paddle engine boilers is rather heavier than the estimate submitted by John Scott Russell's foreman Mr Dickson. Jacomb also reports on the progress made with the casting of the screw propeller blades.
