Description | Written from 18 Duke Street, Westminster, London. The letter informs Jacomb of Brunel's return to London and hopes then to receive a short memorandum from Jacomb reporting progress that has been made on the screw pump, the steam blowing experiments and the deck model. Brunel also comments on some of the drawings that Jacomb sent him including the section of the screw engine room, which he asks Jacomb to correct and then send a dated copy to Watt & Co to avoid any confusion with earlier drawings. Brunel also requests several other drawings be sent to Watt & Co. Following the signature is an Approximate Estimate of the Weight of Ship Engines Stores &tc. The estimate divides the ship into various parts and lists the weight in tons of each part. There is a sketch on Folio 375 illustrating some of Brunel's points about the placement of the screw propeller. |
