Description | The memorandum discusses various decisions that were made and instructions given to John Scott Russell. The memorandum covers the strengthening of the screw propeller blades, the preparation of a design for a crank coupling between two collared bearings of the screw shaft and the drawings that Brunel wants to be made for methods of strengthening the stern frame. The memorandum also discusses the decisions made relating to the paddle wheels, the rudder and stern post and the tunnel passages running along each side of the ship. Some minor matters referred to include the fire-proofing of the 10 ft bulkhead and the need to reconsider removing the upper deck beams. |
