| Description | Written from the Eastern Steam Navigation Company, Millwall Ironworks, London. The letter accompanied Lieutenant Jackson's tender for treating the supports of the Eastern Steam Navigation Company's ship with his solution for reducing the flammability of wood. The letter confirms that Mr Dickson (John Scott Russell's foreman) is having a left-handed screw propeller made and that he would make some alterations to the screw as Brunel instructs and that as soon as the machine is fixed, Jacomb will carry out some experiments on it. There is a sketch on Folio 312 demonstrating some of Jacomb's points about the screw blade. |
