TitleLetter from the Reverend E. L. Berthon to Isambard Kingdom Brunel
DescriptionWritten from 18 Waterloo Crescent, Dover. The letter asks Brunel to inform him as soon as possible if Brunel will be using Berthon's patent collapsing boat for the Great Ship that Brunel is building for the Eastern Navigation Company and gives Brunel some details of Berthon's experience in boat building and details the cost of materials for different sized boats and the likely cost of a boat such as Brunel might need for his ship. Berthon also mentions that he has been offered the use of a boat-builder's yard in Fareham in which to work and offers some suggestions as to the form of the boat that he would recommend for Brunel.
