The letter announces Brunel's intention to spend a day at the shipyard in Millwall and asks Jacomb to make preparations for several matters that Brunel wants to discuss or try out, including the indicator for the steam heating experiments and the experiments in burning wood. Brunel also asks if the engine room has a window that opens, otherwise he will not be able to spend long in it.
