TitleLetter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to H.W. Blake of James Watt & Co
DescriptionWritten from 18 Duke Street, London. The letter reports that, following consideration of the various plans for the engines of the ship, Brunel has been instructed to accept Watt & Co's tender for the screw engines along with John Scott Russell's tender for the paddle engines and the hull of the ship. Brunel also explains the various limitations on the Directors being able to enter into contracts and various conditions that might be attached to the future contracts including part of the completion payment potentially being made in shares rather than cash. There is a pencil annotation at the head of the letter explaining that it is a tender acceptance. letter to Watt & Co.
