TitleLetter from John Scott Russell to Isambard Kingdom Brunel
DescriptionWritten from 37 Great George Street, London. The letter explains that Russell has gone over the plans for the new ship and has calculated likely quantities of materials for the iron steam ship that the Eastern Steam Navigation Company are building and offers a price for which he is willing to provide the ship. The letter also describes the assumptions underlying Russell's estimate and sets out potential terms and prices for various parts of the construction of the ship including building and launching the ship and supplying and fixing marine engines and boilers. There is a small note signed by J. Bennet underneath this letter indicating that it should be compared with another letter of 18 January 1856.
