Description | Written from 18 Duke Street, London. The letter reminds Russell that he needs to prepare and send Brunel a detailed explanation of the work that he has done on the ship construction as well as a copy of the section drawing that Russell sent to Henry Wollaston Blake and a tracing of the general outline of the engines which are now being drawn in detail and a drawing of the great cross head casting that he is proposing. Brunel also requests Russell prepare another, less technical and more pictorial set of drawings of the ship, including longitudinal and transverse sections as well as what appear to be almost artists' renderings of the ship afloat. The letter finishes with a reminder about Saturday and requests Russell set up two flagstaffs at the extreme ends of the ship's final length. The page has been hand-numbered and the facing page (Folio 436) is blank, as is the verso (Folio 438). |
