TitleLetter from George Biddle Airy (signing himself as G.B.A.) to Isambard Kingdom Brunel
DescriptionWritten from the Royal Observatory, Greenwich. The letter promises that Airy will reply to Brunel's letter about the Beecher horizon instrument as soon as he can. Airy mentions that he has posted Brunel a copy of the Athenaeum with an article by Airy on compasses in iron ships and hopes for Brunel's help with providing future observational data to develop his arguments. A postscript hopes that Brunel will not mind Airy asking John Scott Russell to show him the plans for the great ship and the plans for launching her.
