TitleLetter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to Joshua Field
DescriptionWritten from 18 Duke Street, London. The letter mentions that, among the other devices and inventions that Brunel is planning to include in his 'great ship', he thinks a jury rudder or auxiliary paddles fixed to the stern to assist with steering might be a good idea. Brunel remembers seeing a model for a similar device at Field's office and wonders if Field can give him advice on including such a device, which Field's business partner Mr Maudslay might have patented.
