Description | Written from 1 Hillside Crescent, Edinburgh. The letter reports that a friend of Smyth's has brought back from a naval voyage several naval instruments which Smyth had lent him, including an early version of one of Smyth's Edinburgh Reflecting Circles which he has sent to Brunel along with some other items as samples and to give Brunel an idea of what the instruments that he and Smyth are developing will look like when completed. Smyth also discusses various ways of making the device work better. |
